Frequently Asked Questions

How do i get to hilltown commons?

You can take the train to Hudson or Albany, then rent a car or arrange a cab in advance. Hilltown Commons is about a 45-minute drive from either station (Albany tends to have more rental and cab options). If you’re coming with friends, carpooling is a great (and fun) way to get here. For larger groups requiring transfers, we can connect you with trusted local shuttle and transportation services.

How do I get to my building?

While check-in usually takes place at the Guggenheim (“the Gugg”), you may find it helpful to navigate directly to your building for parking. Use the following addresses to get to the right spot:

  • The Guggenheim: 63 Huyck Road (general arrival and check-in location)

  • The Pub: 76 Huyck Road (please park in the parking lot)

  • Residences:

    • Huyck: 85 Huyck Road

    • Ford: 13 Stonecrop Road

    • Straus: 28 Stonecrop Road

    • Stonecrop: 43 Stonecrop Road

    • The Cottage: 47 Stonecrop Road

Is there reliable cell service in the area?

A massive part of Rensselaerville’s charm is how rural it is, but our remote location means that there is limited cellphone coverage on the Hilltown Commons campus. Our guest rooms do not have phones, but there is Wifi across the campus. Please plan accordingly.

where are the nearest Health and Emergency Services?

Hilltown Commons is approximately 12 miles away from the nearest pharmacy, and the closest emergency room is a 40 minute drive. Please bring any prescription medications or medically necessary items with you. We do not have on-site medical services, so if you may require medical attention or supplies, please come prepared or make arrangements with local healthcare providers in advance.

Am I allowed to smoke?

Hilltown Commons is a non-smoking community. Smoking is permitted only in designated outdoor areas. Smoking is not allowed in accommodations, meeting areas, and outdoor deck during mealtimes.

Can I Bring My pet?

We love animals, but our campus is a pet-free environment (with the exception of service animals). Hilltown Commons sits on historic grounds and in restored century-old buildings, and we’ve learned the hard way that pets, however well-behaved, can be tough on the spaces we work hard to preserve and share.
